This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long while. Hilarious! And very sweet too. And I can relate. I am so allergic to cats. It’s so funny and great that you are collecting one of everything. Sort of an anti-Noah’s-ark. I hope it goes well with the cat and that Charlie forgives you and eventually learns to love kitty.

Madge, were I allergic to ONLY cats, we wouldn’t have adopted one. But because I’m allergic to everything in the air, and was suffering for it, I have been, and always will be (unless and until I get weekly shots), on prescription allergy medicine. Therefore, the cat isn’t bothering my allergies at all! Not a bit. In fact, eventually I should be able to get over my allergy to cats by living with one. And yes, I think our pets are lucky to have landed here. They are loved loved loved. (I’m a big-time animal lover:)

I hope your allergies don’t make you crazy after getting this new kitty. I am not a cat person nor a dog person although I did have dogs in my life-never a cat. I have friends who can’t go to a home where there is a cat without taking heavy medication so their eyes don’t cry and they don’t have trouble breathing. You are a good soul. I wouldn’t ever have done what you did. I would have had the dog and the assorted lizard et.al but never a cat. Kittens are cute but cats-not.
Good luck with this and I hope Charlie continues to put up with Tanner and Leo can sleep in peace and quiet without getting cat scratch fever.
You are a good parent and the animals in your life better be lucky they landed at your house and not mine.

Great blog Tosha! It is written so beautifully. I too adore Charlie and know that he will never be replaced by some silly old cat (I haven’t met Tanner yet).
