Brought back a lot of memories (that I had suppressed)! I am a veteran of many a birthday party. My boys are 23 and 28 now but during their childhood birthday parties I definitely alternated roles from hosting a birthday party, monitoring the ball pit, curling up in a ball in the corner. I’ve done it all and your descriptions released a tumble of memories.
Enjoy your little boy party days because despite seeming endless at times, it all goes by so fast. I am enjoying a break now before it’s my turn to play the supporting grandparent role, which I’m really hoping I will get to do some day. Between my husband and myself we have 4 kids so that’s 4 tickets to a possible grandchild, hoping we get lucky some day.

Oh was it really that bad? You must not have partaken in an adult beverage which was available at this one! And the salad was delicious! Just kidding…it was crazy. We survived. : )

I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds birthday parties a chore. Holiday birthdays make the “fun” even more strenuous.

John, this is a great story. I love how you describe it so well. Here’s hoping Devin’s is the best and you do it all right. Probably parents will go home thinking the same thing you did from the last party. But knowing you, I can only imagine what you have in store for those children and parents.
