For those who haven’t been watching our vlogs, this week Susan had to quickly go home to her parent’s house after her mother was in an accident. So for a few days, I had to manage our three kids solo. Yes, it was a little hectic and I truly missed not having Susan around, but it got me thinking about a few things.
I am an only child and when my father got sick last year, it was pretty difficult for me since it was only my mom and me who could take care of him. Susan has siblings so when her mom was in an accident they were all there able to schedule out time with her and able to lean on each other during this tough time. So when people ask me if they should have more than one kid, I think about this.
I loved being an only child as it gave me this beautiful tight-knit family. However, looking down the road, I’m glad that my kids will have one another to help each other out and be there for one in another in good and bad times. So if you’re thinking about having more than one child, I say go for it, as there’s some wonderful benefits to it (though cheers for only-child families too).
