The internet is going crazy for an animated film called “In a Heartbeat” that depicts the love of a young gay boy. When the trailer was released in May, it went viral, and so it was, of course, received with great excitement when it was released yesterday. As of now, it has received over 2 million views on Youtube.
“In a Heartbeat” is a four-minute short film that follows a closeted young boy who “runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.” The film lacks any narration or dialogue, which doesn’t prevent it’s ability to speak to thousands of viewers in a positive way.
The short film was created by Beth David and Esteban Bravo for their college senior thesis project.
The two said, “We’re very touched by the response we’ve gotten so far and we’re happy to know that our project has already had a positive impact on so many people. It proves to us that there is a need and a want for media that addresses LGBT+ themes in a positive and lighthearted way.”
