Today I went to the doctor because I’m now starting another attempt at IVF. I was very nervous walking into the office, as every experience leading up to today has been one failure after the next. I was ready for another cancelled cycle. I was trying to be positive, I even got a call from one of my friends who is a Buddhist and she and some of her colleagues were chanting for me in her office- that felt a bit silly but meant the world to me. I can use every ounce of help I can get.
I took a deep breath as he inserted the cold, very large wand inside of me and stared intently at the grey mass on the monitor. He began swirling it around me searching for follicles, follicles that would hold my precious eggs. It was taking a long time and I saw quite a few more white blobs (follicles) than I had my last round. The doc counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (he’s still counting) 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. 11! I have 11 follicles. This is a miracle considering I had only 1 my last round.
My retrieval is scheduled in a week (we think). It looks like I’m actually going to go through with my first official round of In Vitro. I’m so excited I haven’t stopped to think about the scary part of the procedure. I’ll think about that tomorrow, for now, I say Hooray!
