Conferences are held around the world as meeting places for people within the same industry or those with the same experience. Conferences for LGBTQ youth are few and far between which makes Models of Pride so amazing.
In a recent YouTube video, the Los Angeles LGBT Center shows why Models of Pride is very important for LGBTQ youth. Beyond offering 100 workshops, entertainment, a resource fair, and community building projects, it allows LGBTQ youth to learn so much about their own community from older individuals who have already gone through what they are going through or may go through. Workshops range from dating to finances and participants of this free one-day conference are older youths to young adults up to 24 years of age.
Even parents of LGBTQ are invited to attend workshops specifically set up for them, where they can learn how to be supportive of their children and more about the LGBTQ community and what the challenges they may face.
The next Models of Pride will be on October 29, 2016, at the University of Southern California. Check out the video below which features LGBTQ youth and parents of LGBTQ youth and why they find Models of Pride so important for youth, families, and allies.
