In honor of #BiWeek 2016 and Bisexuality Day, September 23, 2016, we thought we’d showcase some famous bisexual parents that we totally love. Check them out below!
Best known for her role in “Sex in the City,” actress Cynthia Nixon came out in 2010. Nixon was married to Danny Mozes for 15 years and had two children with him — daughter Sam and son Charles. She’s now married to Christine Marinoni. In 2011, Nixon and Marinoni had a son together, Max Ellington.
She told the Advocate in an interview in 2012: “While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.”
Actress Angelina Jolie has always been fairly open about her bisexuality. Though she’s only been married to men in the past, she was in a lesbian relationship with her co-star in 1996, Jenny Shimizu.
Barbra Walters asked Jolie if she was bisexual, and she quickly responded, “Of course. If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it’s okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!”
In another interview, Jolie said, “I was open about it (bisexuality) because I wanted people to know that I had been with a woman. i spoke about it because I’d discovered something wonderful and I thought people should know my experience was very real, very normal.”
Jolie has six children, two of which were adopted: Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, and twins, Vivienne and Knox. She just currently filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt.
Billie Joe Armstrong
Green Day lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong came out in the 90s saying, “I think I’ve always been bisexual… It’s a beautiful thing,”
In 2010, though he told Out that after “almost 16 years of monogamous marriage to the same woman..he says hes not sure if he’d still call himself bisexual.” He quickly added, “But I’d never say that I’m not.”
Today, he’s still married to his wife, Adrienne Armstrong and has two sons, Joseph and Jakob. Jakob has jumped into the music business as a solo artist himself.
Actress Drew Barrymore got her big break with E.T. and has been in thousands of movies since, like The Wedding Singer and Charlie’s Angels.
Barrymore has been married three times to men, but kept her bisexual orientation and lesbian relationships secret until 2003. She was reported as saying, “Do I like women sexually? Yes, I do. Totally.”
Today, Barrymore is a single mother to two girls, Olive and Frankie.
You might recognize Anna Paquin from movies like X-Men and the hit TV show, “True Blood” where she played lead role Sookie Stackhouse. She married her co-star from “True Blood,” Stephen Moyer, and had two children, daughter Poppy and son Charlie.
Paquin came out in 2010 in a PSA. Shortly after in an interview with V Magazine she said, “My sexuality is something I’m completely comfortable with and open about. There’s a lot of prejudice toward us but the more people talk about it, the less of a big deal it will be.”
The actress has been met with prejudice in different forms, such as in an interview with Larry King in 2014. King asked Paquin if she was a non-practicing bisexual.
Paquin replied: “Well, I am married to my husband [Stephen Moyer], and we are happily monogamously married.”
“But you were bisexual?” King still didn’t get it.
“Well, I don’t think it’s a past tense thing,” Paquin explained. “Are you still straight if you are with somebody?… If you were to break up with them or if they were to die, it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that.”
