Australia is one of the few 1st world countries that have yet to pass a law for marriage equality, but that doesn’t mean that many Australians or businesses don’t support it — they do.
“Two-thirds of the nation as well as a majority of politicians want every Australian to be able to marry the person they love in the country they love,” said The Equality Campaign executive director, Tiernan Brady.
He added, “Marriage equality will not change anything for the vast majority of Australians but will make a profound difference to the status and dignity of many.”
Airbnb is joining the fight for marriage equality in Australia with a pretty cool campaign called, “Until We All Belong.” This campaign will allow Australians to visibly show their support for marriage equality with a ring.
Marc Newson created the matte-black ring which does not form full circle — a way to represent the gap in marriage equality. The words, “Until We All Belong,” are engraved in the ring.
The cool thing is that the rings are free to all Australians.
“We are committed to helping people belong no matter where they are in the world and strongly believe that everyone should have the right to marry the person they love,” said Airbnb CEO and Head of Community, Brian Chesky.
“This is an opportunity for people to show their support for marriage equality – not just those within the LGBTQI+ community, but for anyone to make their support for a brother, sister, parent, friend or loved one known.”
