If you follow The Next Family on any of our social media channels, then you know we love social media, and our phones, and technology. But though we live in a technological world, we must remind ourselves and our children of connecting with others on a more personal level.
In our newest “A Day in the Life” vlog on Youtube, my oldest daughter and I decided to send some love to her grandmothers in honor of upcoming Mother’s Day. We recently learned about MyPostcard.com, an amazing new app that lets you create a postcard on your phone with your own pictures. It then sends the postcard for you, with a message of course, to someone you love.
A few days after we had sent our first postcard through the app, we visited Susan’s parents and we saw that amazing enough, Susan’s mom had received our postcard! And she framed it. My daughter was so excited to see the postcard in person.
Yes, we used technology to create the postcard, but we were able to connect with someone that our family loves off virtual reality. A postcard may seem like a simple thing, but when you open your mail and you find a sweet message and great pictures to accompany it — that’s special and heartwarming and I’m glad that at least some technology allows us to teach our kids about that.
