Recently, I had to let my youngest daughter, Bella, who is five years old, go off on her own adventure. Bella was invited by her friend and their family to visit Universal Studios and my baby girl went off on her own for the first time without her parents, her sister, or her twin brother.
I was doing okay for a little bit, but as I’m sure other parents will understand, there came a moment when it hit me. I was so excited for Bella to have her own adventure but suddenly I was hit by a ton of worries. Was she okay? Did she have enough sunblock? What if she got lost?
While Bella was at Universal Studios, my wife and I tried to keep Penn and Sophia entertained for the day. Though the anxiety from earlier had dissipated, it seemed it hadn’t disappeared completely. While out and about, I forgot to give my keys to the valet and our car was almost towed! Yep, my mind was elsewhere — with Bella.
To sum it up, everything went well with Bella. She had a fantastic time and I survived my little chick leaving the nest for the first time. These moments will inevitably come up for every parent. Remember, it’s okay and you will get through it. And don’t forget to give your keys to valet…
