Yesterday was IDAHOT or International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
“The Day represents an annual landmark to draw the attention of decision makers, the media, the public, opinion leaders and local authorities to the alarming situation faced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people and all those who do not conform to majority sexual and gender norms,” says the IDAHOT website.
Every year, IDAHOT focuses on a different theme and this year’s theme was “families.” The theme encompassed both the rights of LGBT families and the well-being, love, and acceptance of LGBT youth or LGBT individuals within their families.
This holiday is celebrated by millions across the world every year and this year was no different. We chose some of our favorite IDAHOT family-themed posts on social media to share with you. Check them out below:
How can you not fall in love with this Parliament Member of Nova Scotia and his family?

We love this post that when translated, reads: “Our happiness, our love, is stronger than any kind of hate!”
Or this tear-jerking video posted by the United Nations that shows a father accepting his son…
And this graphic is too amazing!

We love this IG book lover who shared a two-dad family book in French for IDAHOT.
And how great are these throwback pictures? We especially love the message that accompanies them: “#IDAHOT always makes me thankful for the amazing family and friends I have, if every person was as beautiful a human as you are this day wouldn’t be necessary. Thank You!…#HoneyIamFabulous always have been, always will be and you can never take that away from me! #AQueenSince95”
And you we can’t forget the family photos of families all over the world celebrating IDAHOT…
Like this mom and son…
Or this two mom family…
And especially this family with two trans kids, showing their love on IDAHOT!
And this one! We totally agree with the caption — every day should be IDAHOT! <3
