As parents, we love documenting the lives of our children. “Stand there!” “Smile!” ee say, and they stand and smile and are so happy to be at the forefront of the camera lens.
Many of you know we’ve been vlogging 20 days straight (we’re going for 30 days) now and with that we have to get creative so we don’t get exhausted. We decided to hand over our camera to our kids and it was probably one of the best things we could ever do.
Our children got to be the director of their life film. They filmed what was interesting or important to them. They turned the camera on us. They sometimes even turned the camera on themselves. Whatever our children chose to film that day, they did it all on their own and it was beautiful.
We got to see what our children see and hear what our children think. To capture that on film is so exciting and a wonderful thing that we will cherish for years to come.
And I can’t wait until 20 or 30 years down the line when they want to pull out their vlog to rewatch — maybe even with their own kids — and we get a chance to see who they were as children. I imagine it will bring a whole new light and perspective to their lives — as it did to ours, their parents.
