Friday was the last day of 3rd grade for my Sophia which really got me thinking as a mom.
Following this summer break, Sophia will be entering 4th grade. Though she will still be in the same school, 4th grade just feels so much closer to middle school than 3rd grade did. Sophia has always done well in school and she’s passionate about learning and doing well, but this mom still worries about the workload of a new grade and how my daughter will handle it all.
I wasn’t just thinking about Sophia on Friday either. As I realized it was summer break, I also realized that it was the last summer my twins would have before they entered kindergarten and be officially in the “big kids” school. Seriously — where did the time go? My kids are growing up and getting older and even though I’m so excited for them, sometimes, I just want it to slow down for one second so I can just bask in who they are now.
I’m sure all parents can relate to that. And as you all know, time waits for no one. It keeps going and going. However, if I can’t bask in the moment now, maybe I’ll just bask in the rays of this summer with my kids and enjoy our family as it is now before school comes once again.
