Liam Johnson and Racquelle Trammell just celebrated their daughter Aspen’s first birthday which was featured in an episode on “My Trans Life” on Barcroft TV. Within the episode, the couple talked about their gender identity, the state of trans rights in the U.S., and their pregnancy experience. Both Liam and Racquelle knew from an early age that they didn’t identify with their biological gender. As they transitioned as adults, it was around that time that they met and fell in love.
“I think I began to like her before she began to like me,” Liam told My Trans Life. “I didn’t intend for it to happen but it did.”
Liam added, “She has a nice soul. She’s just wonderful. It feels good to be with someone who understands what I’m going through.”
Racquelle claims that Liam “literally saved” her from herself.
Though the couple were most happy transitioning into their gender identity, they had always discussed having children and so to do that, they both paused their transitions. From there, Liam was able to get pregnant and have their daughter naturally, though this didn’t come without it’s struggles. Though Liam was thankful and happy to be able to carry their daughter, being pregnant was not something he ever wanted to experience and it was taxing at times.
With Trump in office, the couple are a bit worried about what that could mean for their rights and the rights of their family.
“We’ve always been the country that embraced diversity and to see this country that I used to be so proud of kind of change into a day that I can’t wake up and not be in fear of what’s going on with Donald Trump,” said Racquelle, adding, “I’m scared of what that future will look like for me and my family.”
But despite the fear from Trump, the couple tries to remain positive.
“The future for us as a family would be to raise our child the best way that we can. Make Aspen a great person,” said Liam.
