Surviving the first day of kindergarten is tough… for parents. Yes, I know the day is focused on the child and their excitement for a new beginning, but any parent who has gone through it will know — it’s an emotional rollercoaster for the parents.
Our twins just had their first day of kindergarten and my wife, Susan, and I were almost as excited for the kids as they were! We even got a little teary-eyed as they walked into their classrooms for the first time.
Granted, we’ve been through the “first day of kindergarten” thing with our first child, Sophia. I cried every day on her first week of school. This time around with our twins was a little easier for me. It makes me feel better to know that they have each other to lean on, as well as their big sister.
As the twins start their new year as kindergarteners, it’s a new beginning for me, as it is them. They’re not “babies” anymore. They’re big kids. I’m a mom to three big kids and that’s pretty exciting.
