Skirball’s Family Amphitheater Performances: Cow Bop

August 23, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This summer, Skirball is putting on a summer concert series called “Family Amphitheater Performances.” Each weekend features a new band with a different sound and style that will take you and your family on a musical road trip across America.

What do you get when you mix cowboy jazz and western be-bop? Cow Bop! These Southern California locals excite with swinging grooves, thrilling riffs, sweet and hot vocals, western sensibilities, and oodles of fun.

In 2003, celebrated guitarist Bruce Forman—whose guitar playing was featured on the filmMillion Dollar Babys soundtrack—assembled Cow Bop from an accomplished group of musicians with diverse talents. Since then, Cow Bop has shared their rockin’ music around the globe, from the Montreal Jazz Festival to the Monterey Cowboy Gathering. In 2004, they also won the Route 66 Challenge, in which they traveled the length of the historic road with only $100 and their instruments.

As praised by the San Francisco Chronicle, Cow Bop is “hot, jazzy, and has a drawl!”

Performances at 12 pm and 2 pm.
